CABAS® REACCREDITATION PROCEDURES

For use by sites applying for renewal or who have an approved initial accreditation application

Step 1: The CABAS® Professional Standards Committee will notify the school/site when the accreditation cycle is nearing its end. The end of the accreditation period is also printed at the bottom of the site’s Accreditation certificate.

Step 2: The school/site should download and complete the CABAS® Accreditation Application and prepare all necessary supporting documentation.

Step 3: Once received, a minimum of 2 reviewers will be selected to review all documents prior to scheduling a site visit. Reviewers may ask for additional information or documentation from the site at this time. Application reviews should be completed within 60 days.

Step 4: Once the application is approved the selected site visitors will contact the applicant and schedule a site visit. The site is required to cover hotel, travel expenses (coach airfare), and meals for each visitor. The applicant will also provide or cover transportation from the hotel to and from the school/site each day. Site visits usually span 2 days.

Step 5: After the site visit, the review team will prepare a written report detailing all components that were present, partially present, or absent along with necessary actions to be taken to remedy missing or incomplete components. The team will then decide whether the school/site has met the minimal standards for accreditation and determine the accreditation period (1-7 years).

Step 6: If your school/site meets criterion based on the documents reviewed and activities observed, you will receive a letter and certificate from the CABAS® Professional and Organizational Standards Committee recognizing you formally as a CABAS® AccreditedSchool/Site. The letter will specify the duration of your approval which is typically 1-3 years for initial applicants and up to 7 years for renewing applicants.
