The Foundation for the Advancement of a Strategic Science of Teaching

Initial CABAS® Accreditation Procedures

Before we can accredit any site, we must ensure that the school/site demonstrates the necessary expertise in a science of teaching (e.g., CABAS® ranked individuals). Further, an initial application will help us determine the viability, both financial and administrative, of the applicant. The following criteria must be met before we will consider an initial application:

CABAS® Initial Accreditation Criteria

  1. At least one PhD CABAS® certified* Assistant Behavior Analyst (minimum) and one CABAS® Master Teacher (minimum Teacher 2). The Behavior Analyst must have decision-making power and should be the top administrator, where all other administrators must respond to that individual.
  2. A MOU outlining the roles and responsibilities of each party (e.g., school district, CABAS® program; see attached sample)
  3. A CABAS® consultant**–minimum 1 day per month (some by virtual platform)
  4. All teachers should be either a) enrolled in a CABAS®-endorsed MA program or b) FASST course sequence, or c) hold a valid* CABAS® rank.
  5. CABAS®-approved curricula and criterion-referenced assessments
  6. Classes arranged by level of verbal development
  7. When possible, begin with youngest ages/grades first, then add classes provided the data demonstrate desired outcomes

*CABAS® CEU cycle is current

If the above criteria are met the applicant can move forward with an initial application.

Step 1: Download and complete the CABAS® Initial Accreditation Application. Using the form below, upload the application and all required supporting documentation along with a letter addressed to the CABAS® Professional and Organizational Standards Committee indicating your desire for accreditation and commitment to implementing the CABAS® accreditation standards.

Step 2: Once we approve your initial application, we will email you a letter of confirmation expressing our support in you moving forward with initiating or continuing implementation of the key CABAS® components necessary for full accreditation. You will have at least 1 year to implement the key components before submitting an application for accreditation. See CABAS® Accreditation Procedures below.

**Please note that CABAS® consultation is a required component CABAS® Accreditation, but in the event that consultants are not yet in place, sites may secure the assistance of CABAS® consultants through FASST who can assist with the initial accreditation process.

Fees:

Initial application fee (Step 1) is $1,000.00, payable to FASST. If the application is accepted the applicant will have one year to implement or initiate the key CABAS® accreditation standards. At that time the applicant will be asked to complete the CABAS® Accreditation Application.

NOTE: First-time applicants whose initial application has been approved do NOT need to pay the $500 accreditation application fee.
